The Perfection of Wisdom: on the path of Bodhisattvas
14th - 20th November 2017

We are pleased to announce a series of lectures with Khenchen Pema Sherab Rinpoche and Wulstan Fletcher on the 9th Chapter of the Bodhisattvacaryavatara – The Way of the Bodhisattva.

The event will take place from November 14 to 20 at Palácio Villa Helena (Travessa da Escola Araújo nº 24), in Lisbon, with the following programme:
  • 09:30 – 12:00 - Lecture by Khenchen Rinpoche on the 9th Chapter: “The Perfection of Wisdom – The Path of the Bodhisattvas”
  • 14:30 – 18:30 - Theoretical session with Wulstan Fletcher
A contribution (to cover organizing costs) for the Teachings is required (one-day ticket: 20 Euros; 7 days pass: 100 Euros).

Due to the limited number of seats available, participation in the event requires a pre-registration, which can be done online here.

Teachings will be in Tibetan (with English translation) and in English. Simultaneous translation will be available for Portuguese and, if necessary, to French.

Next Shamatha retreat (October 2017)

It is with great pleasure that we now can announce the forthcoming dates for the Shamatha Meditation Retreat.
The 6 days of the next Shamatha Meditation Retreat will take place between October 28, 2017 (Saturday) at 09:30, and November 2, 2017 (Thursday) at 17:00, at Hotel do Sado in the city of Setúbal.
This Retreat will be open to all participants wishing to be part of the Shamatha Meditation Retreat Group. There will be several options for participation:
  • 2 days (Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29 - being present on the first day is mandatory to be able to participate on the 2nd day).
  • 6 days from Saturday to Thursday.
We inform that this will be a Silent Retreat. Therefore, all participants should refrain from talking during the duration of the retreat.

Visit to Portugal of His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the 42nd Sakya Trizin
5–7 June 2017

Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation is honoured and pleased to announce the first visit to Portugal of His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the 42nd Sakya Trizin, one of the main teachers of the the Sakya Lineage.

The event will take place from June 5 to 7, at the Vip Executive Villa Rica Hotel in Lisbon, with the following program:

  • June 5: Public Conference
    "The Benefits of Training the Mind"

    Free entrance (donations are kindly accepted).
  • June 6: Teachings
    "Interdependent Origination - The Essence of Buddhism"
    Schedule: 9h30 to 11h30 and 15h30 to 17h30
  • June 7: Teachings
    "Interdependent Origination - The Essence of Buddhism"
    Schedule: 9h30 to 11h30
    "Tara Empowerment"
    Schedule: 15h30 to 17h30
  • A contribution (to cover organizing costs) for the Teachings of days 6 and 7 is required (one-day ticket: 40 Euros; 2-days pass: 70 Euros). Reservations for the 2-days passes are available online or can be bought at Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation office in Lisbon. One-day tickets will be available on-site at the day of the event.

    His Holiness will teach in English and simultaneous translation into French and Spanish is being considered.

    This event is organized in collaboration with União Budista Portuguesa and Songtsen – Casa da Cultura do Tibete.

    Covão da Águia Project - Monchique - The first 10 Retreat Rooms
    It is with great joy that we inform you that the first stage of the construction of the Covão da Águia Project, in Monchique, Portugal, is now over and the first retreat rooms are now available.
    "If someone is a little confused, it's good to go there and look at the sky. The mind will be completely free." (TPWR)
    Regular Activities
    The KRF regularly organizes conferences, teachings and retreats; these are held with the guidance of Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche, Pema Wangyal Rinpoche, Rangdröl Rinpoche, and other teachers. The KRF also oversees the following activities:

    Every 10th (Guru Rinpoche) and 25th (Dakinis) days of the lunar calendar, as well as in auspicious dates (which will be announced).

  • Food Offerings to the Homeless

    Through the C.A.S.A. Project we have the possibility to participate in this important initiative, which is currently ongoing in many cities in Portugal.

  • Release of Animals
    Every 15th and 30th days of the lunar calendar.
